- 5.0 out of 5 stars from Russ Womack -- A Must Read! : Sam and Rachel Lucania invite you into their personal lives as husband and wife where substance abuse and addictions are unwanted guests in their marriage and home. Sam and Rachel are transparent, honest, and real with their story, in hopes that the struggles they’ve experienced can help someone out there in a world where, unfortunately, substance abuse and mental illness have escalated to record levels. This is not only a book that illustrates Sam’s descent into the world of addiction starting when he took his first drink at the age of 12, but is also a book of triumph, never giving up on a marriage, fighting the demons together as a couple instead of letting them tear it apart, and realizing that surrendering everything to God and putting Him above all—your marriage, your struggles, your addictions, your depression—is, and will always be, the only remedy and the only answer. Sam and Rachel have taken the darkest moments of their lives together and have graciously created a masterfully written book that gives both purpose to their struggles and hope to others experiencing the same. Sam gives an account of his story of addiction and depression, and Rachel gives an account to the person who wonders why. Why can’t he simply quit? This book is a must-read for anyone struggling with addiction or mental illness, and for anyone who knows someone who is. ( Reviewed in the United States on September 20, 2021 )

- 5.0 out of 5 stars from Maryann McMellon -- If you’ve battled addiction, you are not alone. Read this book! : We all hear of people and respect those that have battled addictions, have sat in the AA meetings, recovery groups, counseling appointments, made the phone calls and have maintained sobriety. But this book is so much more than a 12 step approach. This is a personal intimate story between a husband and wife battling the devastation of addiction allowing you into a space that takes courage and vulnerability. In this book, you will find yourself knowing there is a God that is greater than any addiction or circumstance. And when we allow Him, He not only sets us free, but he uses a story like theirs to set others free. Very inspirational read! ( Reviewed in the United States on September 20, 2021 )
